2005 SIDEWALK DOC SHOP
A Documentary Workshop
(Spring 2005)
Have you ever wanted to make a documentary about the behind-the-scenes
shenanigans of American Idol? The 2005 Sidewalk Doc Shop provided participants with an opportunity to create a short doc documenting the Alys Stephens Center's “Stars Fell on Alabama” talent show!
Participants took part in a workshop to learn tips and tricks of cinema vèritè with industry professionals. Each team then followed and documented one story, creating a five-minute short film on their subject. The works were screened with a panel of experts who provide d feedback and comments, allowing the participants to fine-tune their shorts. In addition, all films were screened at the 2005 Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival.
The panel of industry experts included two-time Sidewalk Audience Choice winner for Best Documentary, Norton Dill (MUSIC IN THEIR BONES, KATHRYN: THE STORY OF A TELLER), Celia Carey (THE QUILTMAKER'S OF GEE'S BEND), and Michele Forman (4 LITTLE GIRLS, Sundance Channel's "Inside: Sundance").
